In his recent book, Bully of Asia: Why China's Dream is the New Threat to World Order, Steven Mosher argues that from its earliest emperors to President Xi, China has maintained continuity through its distinctive culture and political ideology. Mosher contends that modern China is attempting to reclaim its historic position as global hegemon, to the detriment of American ideals and goals. He argues that without action, the United States will be left behind. But is Beijing truly attempting an assault on Western values and governance?
